At events and out in the community across Houston, you represent causes that matter. This is what the work involves:
- Speak for nonprofit campaigns at community events and tabling spots around Houston
- Real conversations with neighbors and supporters, face to face in the community
- Training on the cause and how to talk about it, before you represent it
- A mentor from day one who has been in your shoes
- Travel to leadership conferences and regional trainings
- A clear path to grow into leadership as you develop

The work is in person and the details shift with the events running that week, but the shape of a day stays the same.

You learn the campaign before you represent it: what the nonprofit does, who it serves, and the questions people ask most.
Meet people where they are
Community events, tabling spots, storefronts, schools, and neighborhood gatherings around Houston. You set up, meet people, and answer their questions.

Real conversations, not a script. Most people will say no, and a polite, graceful exit is part of doing the job well.

You work in a small group, on your feet and outside for part of the day, in Houston weather. Comfortable shoes and water help.

Who will I be working with?
A Houston-area team that runs in-person outreach for nonprofit partners like L.E.A.D., led by CEO Phyllis Gong. The team includes Jessica Villatoro (Human Resource Specialist), Jade Perkins (Area Marketing Director), Faith Duarte (Talent Scout), Joseph Juarez (Senior Event Lead), and Mathew Villanueva (Development Executive). Meeting the team is one of the steps in our hiring process.
Do I need experience?
No. Every new team member learns the mission and the key messages, and is paired with a mentor, before they ever represent a cause. What counts most here is attitude and a willingness to learn.
What is a typical day like?
Most of it is face to face, at community events, storefronts, schools, and neighborhood events around Houston, talking with people about the nonprofit campaign you represent. You work in a small group, on your feet, and outside for part of the day.
Will I be on my own?
No. Outreach runs in small groups, and your mentor is beside you for your first conversations. You watch them work before you lead one yourself.
Is there room to grow?
Yes. Personal and professional development is part of our culture, with hands-on training, mentorship, and travel to conferences. Many roles here are a starting point, not a ceiling.
When will I hear from the team?
A confirmation email arrives as soon as you apply, and a member of the team contacts you personally soon after.
Where is the office?
13201 Northwest Fwy, Ste 310, Houston, TX 77040. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The interview includes a visit here to meet the team.
What should I ask before I say yes?
Ask for the specifics in writing: the role, who you report to, the schedule, and the location. Ask who your mentor will be and whether you can meet them first. These are ordinary questions, and the team expects them.
What causes will I represent?
Our current partner campaigns center on L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence), which brings prevention education to schools and communities. Training on that mission comes before you ever speak for it.
